Co-Living Communities for Seniors

A new wave of co-living projects is being designed around retirees rather than twentysomethings. Small private apartments cluster around shared kitchens, gardens, and social halls.
The model resembles a dorm — with better linens — but with built-in and optional onsite medical care. Residents say they sleep better and feel less isolated.
Some facilities mix seniors and graduate students in exchange for reduced rent, building friendships nobody signed up for.
Waiting lists stretch two to three years in popular . For many older adults, the alternative — aging alone — is simply no longer the obvious default.
