The Repair Cafe Movement

Repair cafes — volunteer-run spaces where neighbors fix each other's broken blenders, lamps, and bicycles — are now in over eighty countries.

Each session pairs a "fixer" with a visitor. The skills range from basic to complex clock repair. Parts are charged at cost; labor is free.

A 2025 Dutch study found that cafes collectively saved tens of thousands of kilograms of electronic from landfills in a single year.
