Making It to the Spelling Bee Finals

Our school spelling bee went on for three long rounds. My hardest word was "receipt" — the silent P almost fooled me.

By the final round, only Maya and I were left on stage. We spelled tough words for fifteen minutes. My legs were trembling under the table.

I finally lost on "occurrence" (I put only one R). Maya was gracious and we laughed about it after. Next year, that R will not beat me.
