Writing for the School Paper

I joined the school newspaper to become a better writer. My first assignment was a review of the new cafeteria menu.

I interviewed five students, the head chef, and even the janitor (who had the funniest take). I wrote three drafts before the editor was happy.

Seeing my name in print for the first time felt unreal. My mom cut the article out and put it on the fridge, right next to my baby photo.
