Our Science Fair Volcano

My lab partner Ken and I picked the classic volcano for our science project. Everyone said it was too simple, but we wanted to make ours really erupt.

We built the cone out of newspaper and clay, and painted it deep brown. Inside we hid a small plastic bottle for the baking soda and vinegar reaction.

On the presentation day, red foam bubbled over the sides exactly when we wanted. Our teacher gave us second place — and a big high-five for the best cleanup after.
